Quiet Light
27. August - 1. February 2026
Keita Morimoto paints the small stories of the big city—people who appear and disappear in the same breath, caught in the flickering light of vending machines and shop windows. At first glance, the works seem painted with photographic precision, yet everything is dissolved into countless small, flat brushstrokes that, in a subtle way, bring the scenes together and leave them in a dreamlike stillness.
Quiet Light shows that the Danish-Japanese kinship in simplicity, order, and silence is part of a larger shared experience. We are at least as lonely as they are in Japan.
Keita Morimoto (b. 1990, Osaka, Japan) emigrated to Canada as a teenager and studied at OCAD University in Toronto, where he completed his BFA in 2012. Today, he lives and works in Tokyo.
