Yongqi Tang

Yongqi Tang (b. 1997, Shenzhen, Cina) is an artist and educator that lives and works in Seattle. Drawing inspiration from a classical art and contemporary movies, she explores the complexities of figure painting as a vehicle for storytelling. While not conforming to strict categories, her works reflect on themes such as diaspora and spirituality, striving to transcend personal narratives to foster universal emotions. Often executed on a large scale, Tang’s works incorporates materials such as oil, acrylic, charcoal, and collage.

Recent solo exhibitions include those at Latitude Gallery, New York; Le Scalze, Naples; Jupiter Contemporary, Miami; and T293 Gallery, Rome. She has also been exhibited in numerous group shows including I Go To Seek A Great Perhaps, 2024 at Make Room, LA; Main Character, 2024 at WOAW Gallery, Hong Kong and David Zwirner’s online viewing room Platform.
