Keita Morimoto
Keita Morimoto (b. 1990, Osaka, Japan) immigrated to Canada as a teenager and studied at OCAD University in Toronto, where he completed his BFA in 2012. Today, he lives and works in Tokyo.
His practice bridges Eastern and Western pictorial traditions, and he is interested in the city’s psychological spaces and the symbolic potential of light—both as something sacred and as something deeply rooted in consumer culture and urbanity.
Morimoto’s works have been shown at a number of renowned institutions, including the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto, The Power Plant, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, and K11 Musea. His paintings are part of permanent collections such as the Shiga Museum of Art (JP), ICA Miami (US), and the High Museum of Art (US).
His works have been exhibited internationally, including at The Power Plant (Canada), Powerlong Art Museum (China), ICA Miami (USA), and Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Italy), and are represented in several public collections worldwide.
