Kunsthal n opens its doors for the first time on August 24, 2024, and is Nørrebro’s new art institution for international contemporary art. Located in a former factory building at Baldersgade 14, Kunsthal n presents art at an international level from the new generation of artists. Kunsthal n serves as a platform for the most current “here and now” art emerging globally, from New York to Tokyo and Mexico City.

Kunsthal n brings current artistic voices to Copenhagen, which would otherwise require travel to experience. Here, artists who can make a difference with their work are presented. At Kunsthal n, today’s human narratives find a voice through art.

Kunsthal n presents two exhibitions annually, and the first exhibition, ‘about a moment – in a moment’, showcases works by the American painter Danielle McKinney. Her paintings portray Black women in everyday situations and reflect Kunsthal n’s ambition to mirror and shape human narratives today.

The name ‘Kunsthal n’ stands for both Nørrebro and Nordic quality. Kunsthal n aims to give voice to today’s human stories through art. With its diversity and energy, Nørrebro reflects the complexity of the world, making it the perfect home for Kunsthal n.
We collaborate with local forces and have a special focus on children and young people. Kunsthal n offers free programs for school classes and youth organizations to inspire and engage the next generation in the world of art.
Kunsthal n is run by a non-profit foundation managed by a board of directors. The operation of the art hall is secured through protections.
